Hello, I'm replacing the sill on my Citroen DS. To remove the rusted part I had to drill out almost 100 spot welds (I used a plasma cutter in the end).
I am plug welding though the spot weld holes onto the new panel. The new part is 1.5mm mild steel. It is to be plug welded to 0.8mm steel.
The holes I'm using are a minimum 8mm diameter, some are 20mm x 10mm.
I start the weld in the middle and spiral out.
The top of the plug is slightly raised, the underside has a blob about 2 or 3mm deep.
Questions: am I giving it too many amps? Or spiralling out too slow? Am I getting too much penetration or can there never be enough?

View from underneath, too much penetration?
