I don't think it'll make a difference as the terminals shouldn't have polarity. Surely you just swap the neutral and live? I'm in the process of trying to reverse my pillar drill atm but via a switch so it's not permanent, and I'm fairly sure if I just swap the two incoming wires it'll work (there's no cap on my motor as its just a split phase motor not a cap start jobbie).

You have to swap the order of the phases to make it spin the other way, its AC so changing polarity makes no difference. I have 3 different types of single phase motors that now spin both ways, its was 10 years ago when i wired them though, all i remember was i brought all main winding wires to the switch, i got the info from workshop series Jim Cox Electric motors no24, he also shows you how to make 3 phase motors run from single supply with an added start button.

There will be two windings on the motor; run and start. To reverse the motor you need to reverse the polarity of one of the windings.
The start circuit will have the start winding, the start capacitor and the centrifugal switch in series. See if you can find both wires for one winding and swap them. A ohm meter can help ID the windings.
Swapping the cap wires or power leads will have no effect.

Where the white wire from the cap and the red wire meet, disconnect the red wire. You will need to find the opposite end of the winding; I suspect the black wire.
With a meter you can measure the resistance. Find another winding wire with connectivity and disconnect it also. You should then only find continuity between the two wires and nothing else. The red and the other wire will need to be swapped.
