Plastisteel thermplastic anyone tryed this for making components?

Hi guys, please disregard the first post, i have previously been a member here for years but have somehow forgot my user and email address 'Dohh'
Found something interesting that you guys might have already tryed

Its a thermoplastic polymer that has a yield strength higher than concrete yet becomes a putty at boiling temperature,
thinking of trying to make a few parts for the GT4 with it, interior stuff gauge surrounds, side skirt moldings, clips and stuff, it seems **** hot and worth a try for the price!
they say on the website it is also reusable and fuel & oil resistant so it might stand up to fiberglass epoxies and allow for easy molds to be made

Problem I see is it melts at a lower temperature than a good summers day, might be useful to a Eskimo......

Hottest temperature we have every had was 37.4C so i think it should be safe in the uk, it says on the website it becomes soft at 62, i have ordered a kg to try it out, i wont be putting it anywhere where heat is a issure, such as bonnet or exhaust

62 is not to hot to handle i think my coffee is hotter than that, but than again i do like it dark!

exactly so the hottest day must be around the 100 mark

Yeh the inside of a car acts as a green house not an oven, you would never see them temps in the uk inside the car, probably nowhere for that matter

This stuff says its turns soft around 62C - 143F
hottest temperature ever recorded was 56.7C - 134F (i suppose that's why they call it death Vally)

Just Played About With It Really - Made A Mould Of A Key And A Box - Can Be Drilled And Sawn.

Cools Fairly Slowly But Very Manageable - Your Imagination Is Its Limits.

Cool, im going to see how resistant it is to fiberglass and gel coat, not to sure on the temperature of the catalyst reaction of fiberglass and epoxy, if it stands up to it this product will be ground breaking!

^^^ yep all that is correct.....so how is he holding something that's above 62c or 143f with his bare hand ?? 50c will burn you.

yeh i have left sweets on the dashboard, and yes they melted but i think the chemical composition of this might be slightly different to a sweet

I've got some bits moulded by a physiotherapist for my hands. Sheet which she put into hot water and moulded to my hand. Wonder if its the same stuff.

Yep I agree with that and that is my point, he clearly isn't hot potatoing it one little bit, he even holds pressure on it at one point therefor I deduce the melting point is much lower than stated. I also know for a fact I cant comfortably hold a car roof on a really hot day, but the stuff might be good for molding with.
