A mate of mine has used similar to repair a bike fairing and some other plastic parts..
Yea they were amateurs...They're called hot staples but that chap in the video doesn't know how to use them. Should be lengthwise to join the crack, twist the embedded staple into the join (so that it shifts sideways) then the tang is designed to snap off below flush. They are hardened steel pins, no wonder he broke his snips.
I made a hot staple system from an electric soldering gun.
great stuff.. fairings are never cheap... or bumpersI made up some staple holders.
Chem black then fit to suitable solder gun.
Works a charm.
ABS hospital lamp
ABS bike fairing (finished in eggshell yellow).
Polypropylene recycle bin.
Makes a really strong permanent repair which (not shown) can be made invisible. Perhaps not so invisible on the poor old fairing, that was smashed to bits!
