I am thinking of doing a bit. I was told once the walls are framed and insulated I need to put up plastic sheet over it and board on top of it. Is this correct? Can I do it without using plastic sheet?
Usually only vapour barrier on studding is against a block/brick external wall. Idea being to stop warm air condensing on a cold external wall causing condensation and mould behind the walls.
What are you hoping to achieve with the plastic sheet ?
I've done it the other way, plastic first then stud with insulation in between and finally plasterboard. Done it on old properties that don't have a damp proof course so that you have interior walls that are warm and dry.
Then I dig a field drain around the property so the ground doesn't hold water and the walls have a chance of staying dry even without a damp proof course.
Thanks for the replies by the sounds of it I should be ok. It's a stud wall around 1mtr from the external wall. Is it called kooms. The ceiling slopes up towards the loft.
