Plasma's X 2 opinions please

Now before we start I havn't posted this to find prospective buyers. well I now have two fairly old fully working plasma cutters
a hypertherm powermax 380 ( transformer ) and a cebora 3100 ( inverter )both about the same power. Do I really need two ? consumables for both are neither cheap or what you'd say readally availible , which would you keep and why. Also how do you do that thing where you highlight some ones moniker in post so they are notifyed ?

Both of those are getting older now so consumables will gradually become more expensive until they become obsolete.

You could always fit a newer torch to use easily available consumables but they will probably cost more than the machine is worth.

Which one to sell?
The hypertherm will probably sell easier and make a bit more than the cebora.

If you plan to use the one that you keep a lot and for a long time then the hypertherm is probably the one to keep as there is more chance of finding somebody to repair it if it does go wrong.

If you need parts for a hypertherm you can contact hypertherm directly and they will get one of the dealers to get in touch with you.
With cebora it's the other way around and it's a bit of a mission to find a helpful cebora dealer.

If you are only planning to do infrequent odd jobs with the one you keep then the cost of consumables is not really an issue so maybe just advertise both stating that the advert will be pulled once one is sold?

Or if you are using it a lot to make money out of maybe sell them both and buy something newer with a warranty!

Either way, let me know if they are single phase as I could do with a cheap one for the van!

Thanks for the @ thing . I was erring on the side of hyperthem i already have a few consumables for it but as you say they are getting harder to find . I have no problem getting them repaired, they both have been the issues in both were minor and components for both were coppers. My mate that did both repairs said even though the HT is older (20+years ) its a better build quality and less to go wrong he's getting a bit of expert on welding gear now

I'm very impressed by the trafimet s65 torch on my (hood's old) tecarc 65. Blowback ignition and pilot arc, and consumables are great.

I had been looking at the trafimet torches s25/45 but to be honest I wouldn't know what torch would fit either cutter.
the HT has a pac110 torch and the cebora a CP 40 and both are perfectly functional at present . I would like to think both machines would be worth the cost of a torch. R tech do all the cebora consumables but they are pricey.
