Plasma Cutter Trips RCBO

I have a problem with a tripping rcbo in my workshop, both my plasma cutter and my mig on high settings trip it...they're on a 16 amp plug. I started with 16a c curve rcbo then after taking advice from this forum tried a 20a rcbo still a c curve, better but still trips on highest settings, really annoying sometimes.

how many amp input load does the id plate say on welder and cutter??

I would think the welder at least would need a 32A supply, meaning the 16A rcbo is tripping because of over current. most plasmas I have seen also need more than 16A input too

edit....just looked on tec arc website and it says 20a slow blow fuse

that is your problem, you need a min of 20A rcbo, probably a c type although my welders state slow blow but are fine on b type breakers

Can't find a wylex 20amp d curve rcbo...anyone know of another make that will fit my wylex consumer unit...dont want to keep putting higher amp c curves in!

My R-TECH 40amp plasma cutter needs 32amp supply

The plasma trips out when you turn on the switch at highest setting and the mig when you pull trigger on gun at highest 2 or 3 settings.
I think the plasma is an inverter and the mig a transformer..

A d curve is more suited to the inrush of a transformer. I run my 211 on a 20A d curve.

Yeah I think thats the answer but need to find a d curve that fits my wylex unit...

I doubt you will.
Domestic CU's are not designed and neither are the devices for D curve units.
You will need to change your CU out for an industrial type a Schneider unit would do, that would take D curve units as long as you don't want RCBO's
Especially if you need DP circuit protection in your RCBO as almost all are not.
