HiAll. having looked at the plasma cutter's here on weldequip i feel for cutting upto 5-6mm ss for quit suficiant, would i be correct for the IFL cut 40 plasma cutter, anyone used this machine & can You rate it for the needs above,

Depends on budget really, if your budget is small then the IFL should fill your needs but its built to a price hence its much lower in cost compared to the highly rated Hypertherm machines.
I am looking to do mainly thin stuff but given that the Hypertherm has a 3 year warranty and is really repspected I plumped for that but is about 3 times the price of the IFL !!
Also you will need to make sure you compressor is up to the job of supplying the air requirements.
I too went for Hypertherm because of the warranty and that it is highly respected. Yeah, it was a lot more than others but I just saw it as a long term investment.
I bought this one from R tech a while back on ebay (item number 170791894327). I use it almost every day and its bloody reliable for a cheap plasma. It cuts 8mm plast quite easy and I have used it on 10- 12mm too. I only have to use a small compressor of 3hp to run it. I have used better but if your on a budget I think its spot on.
I bought a LTS Cut 50 from Ebay around six months ago after my Murex Tradescut 5 died, cost around £250, worked it pretty hard and apart from the inner electrode tip on the torch unscrewing itself occasionally it has been fine. Normally used on thin stuff but has been used on 10mm+ but not a clean cut. I miss the self starting torch on the Murex though, as the chinese plasma has a contact torch so you need to clean the start of the cut to get a good contact.
