Plasma cnc cutting table

I'm at the beginnig stage of building a cnc plasma cutting table. it will be 1200mm by 1200mm and a cutting area of 1000 by 1000mm. so far, there are two "arms" with linear guide installed on them and as you will be able to see in the attached pics - the plate that holds the "x" axis stepper motor. next I intend to assemble the rack and its gear (while I'm waiting to receive the control and driver for the steppers - which I've orderd from China).
In the meantime - I'll appreciate any comment/suggestions.
My main concern so far is the THC (torch hight control). but being optimistic as I am, I hope that I'll find a solution for it.

I'm well interested in doing this. The money is a bit of a problem though. I don't want to break the bank but equally wouldn't want to spoil the broth for a ha'pworth of salt.

What budget (guesstimate) are you figuring for this?

First of all let me welcome you aboard.
As per your question - since I didn't consider it as a "commercial" project I didn't budget it. what I can tell so far is that the linear guides were priced about us$310 (chinese), stepper motor about us$45 apiece (3 of them) control & driver board $32, power supply - $20 all of the above - chinese. to that you have to add two racks and their gears $74 and 60 by 60 box. these were my costs so far. its not stopped here, but I believe that these are the biggest items. all of it doesn't include of course, the work and machining that I do myself.

Here are 3 more pics - they show the gantry, constructed but still not welded.
please take into consideration that the lower linear guide built so that it can be slightly adjusted in order to compensate for the small deformations that might occur due to the welding.

Hi Amron,

Just found this post and I'm very interested to hear how your progressing? Did you manage to finish the table?

Also how was your experience in buying from China, all go well?
