pipe fittings

Hi

As a few of you know I am in mid construction of a semi gasifying wood boiler for my workshop (pictures and stuff to follow, when I get time to post them all). I was intending to weld on mallable iron fittings for connection to the plumbing, but having been chatting to someone about it they advised that when welded mallable can become porous!
So rather than fit mallable and end up with weeping joints, did a search for steel pipe fittings and all I can find is stainless (thousands of em), carbon steel (which I don't want to use as they could end up very hard after welding) , so does anyone know where I can get hold of any plain steel threaded fittings, will need 1/2 bsp for this project and probably 3/4bsp for the next one, its an accumulator tank!

These are my local supplies but they do mail order as well, BS1640 M/S weld fittings will not work harden when welded...... to make a tidy screwed Assembly your need to hire a threading rig, Or screw cut in the lathe if its an option, always taper cut threads also otherwise elbows etc, will shake lose and leek...... personally tho I build most Assembly's with weldable fittings, I think it makes a much neater job.....

BTW 3/4 is the smallest size you can buy standard weldable fittings for.....
