Plastic battens maybe? or just a red instead of green preservative?
The panels will still work facing west, ours face due east as the west side is heavily shaded by woodland and they still generate about 2500kwh per year. South facing is always best if possible, if ours were we'd generate an estimated extra 1000kwh

Ive just asked one of our construction engineers at work.
He says that BS5534:2014, the Code of Practice that gives recommendations about putting together a safe and permanent roof construction, was revised and re-issued very recently and, in that revision, a number of things about roof design and erection were changed. to make it look like companies are complying with the requirements of the new changes they have started changing the colour of the dye in the preservatives.
He further said that in practice no one is actually complying with the changes correctly but as a marketing thing to say we are different they have added a different coloured dye
