is it normal to be able to grab the chuck whilst drilling and be able to stop it turning?
I'd say it's not very normal to try grabbing the chuck while it's spinning
Yes if it's a hand drill...
or just pull em over by hand dropping off the big pulley 1st . just make sure your fingers don't get trapped it hurtsGenerally, you move the motor on it's mounts to tension the belt.
To change speed, slack off the mounts, move belt, retension.
new belts may sort the problem do the belts just set there own tension? it is a twin belt machine with 12 speeds so 3 pulleys
u can put belt dressing on . even new belts it gives a lot more torque and no slipSome of the 3 pulley varieties can be hard to get good belt grip. The very small diameter pulley choices are the worst. If you can get a sensible speed for your work without using the largest/smallest pulley selections, try that.
slow speed for large drills fast speed for small drills to cut eficientllyI don't mind paying out for new belts they are a consumable and a new set will last me forever with the use I give the drill. I just set it to the lowest speed 210 and leave it there normally as I only use it for drilling steel
