I had a couple of FE Victors , the last one finished up with a 351c Ford in it. Went rather well.

High time that all these environmentally unfriendly and unsafe motors were scrapped and recycled

I remember chasing an FD Ventora along the Badminton Road Between Downend and Yate when I lived near Bristol in 1980/1

We were going "quite fast" when a Reliant Regal pulled out from a side turning in front of him. There was an almighty bang and a shower of fibreglass bits, and what was left of the Reliant ended up on its roof in a ditch. I thought the driver was going to be dead, but no. He was OK, but very, very drunk, which I think saved him to some degree. Not many wore seatbelts either, back then.

Ventora was badly damaged. Always preferred to look of the FD over the FE

A little bit like new house garages are still 16' x 8' - the "standard for parking bays was probably determined decades ago when vehicles were smaller

In 1988, in a Luton scrapyard, was a Scimitar SE6a, every panel on it crunched like a cornflake but the passenger cell was still intact.
The roll-over bar undoubtedly saved the driver from a broken neck, but the body panels had acted like shock absorbers, just like later car designers try to do with steel.
Story was, he'd been horsing it along the curved two-way at the base of the airport hill and lost it, went up the embankment and rolled over a few times. Remarkably, he'd opened the door and walked away.
I don't know how drunk he was.

A chap I knew wrote off his Scimitar in the 80's when well over the limit so got a 12 month driving ban, as he was in the merchant navy he just went back to sea until his ban was finished.
