OK. I have a petter diesel AC2 model. On the flywheel there is an extension. I presume for different applications...the shaft on my engine measures 25.5mm . And I need a 28.5 mm. I don't know if the shafts were available in different diameters. I am waiting on a mail from a chap on eBay who has some...picture below.

The shaft is probably 25.4mm ergo 1" imperial, You could always turn a sleeve to give you the extra diameter and split it for the key,

That's what I was thinking if I couldn't find a shaft of that size...

Just had message from eBay. The shaft he had for sale is 1 3/8 . To big. But could be machined down if needed.

The chap on eBay thinks he can source on of the correct diameter. So I have some good options.

I don't have a lathe yet. But am busting for one. I can shim the original one or machine down a bigger shaft...but might be able to get the correct diameter shaft.

Looks like it's got a thermostart type rig in the intake manifold.

Yes leccy start...heater plugs ect...I hooked it up to a lorry battery. Stuck the diesel lines in a can with some diesel. A screwdriver across the starter and away it went...happy days.
