Diesel 145.9 at Tesco, up 9p from pre-conflict

No queue, in fact quieter than usual and no evidence of anyone topping off, person before me spent £80, other pump was £60

Side note, anyone else remember when the .9 used to change? Now it's a fixed figure

My Dad worked for Marconi for 41 years in Chelmsford from the late 50's.I've seen picture where the only thing you can see is heads in a crowd coming out!!
He used to tell me the story of coming out of work with loads of others on his pedal bike ( that had a cyclemaster engine). He had his coat over the handle bars that caught in his front wheel. He went over the handle bars, smashing his front teeth, causing a massive pile up of bodies and bikes!

Boats are a very efficient way of moving things.

But when you think about it - a fully ladened 44 ton lorry and trailer - can get near 8-10 mpg now - which I think is good compared to a 1.8 ish ton car that does 40-60 mpg - (that is English gallons @Erie Fred )

I wonder if the prices for used 125 motorbikes and scooters will go up now too? They're already cheaper to run door to door than public transport, with fuel prices climbing. 150 mpg from a Honda CB125 seems pretty attractive under the circumstances.

I have considered it, but my 100kg weight on a 125, with 10 miles of usually quiet 70mph dual carriageway on the commute, makes me question if it's a wise idea.

I been 96kg - now only 89kg (depressive anorexic me ).

I not been out of town on mine in nine years - all pottering about in traffic - single lane stuff with 20/30/40mph speed limits.

No I would not do the open road on mine - you would get blown about too much on a dual carriageway.

You need a sub 400cc scooter for that sort of outing.

When I retire I will buy a SH350i or a ADV350 (most likely the ADV Honda as it has more underseat storage for my errands - fetching bread/milk/beer)

Similar situation for me. I was planning on using the Can Am (250 two stroke) but then the enforced workshop move put paid to that as I didn't fancy it on the bypass.

Plenty of middleweight 600 + stuff about though.
