pesky speed cameras, have you been caught

I'm waiting on one as well, car in front was veering from verge to centreline and speed varying from 40 to 60mph, obviously 'checking their status on face book' or similar so I floored it to get past, just in time to see a traffic car tucked in a layby, I guess I was doing about 75 in a 60mph!
Chances are I will get points and the idiot on their phone will get away Scott free.

I wouldn't be so sure; even when Mr. Plod is sat with a hairdrier (handheld radar) they will normally chase and nick you on the spot. If they didn't move you're probably in the clear (asleep/ eating donuts/ getting a blowy )...

Let's hope so, I have only just cleared the last speeding ticket off my licence.

On may Home this afternoon I was coming down a small hill, Im certain I had slowed down to the 20Mph speed limit, but as I got to within 20 yards of the copper he raised his camera gun thingy ma bob, is it likely he could of got my reg from that distance, he was stood behind a car and two other coppers were on the other side of the road. Possibly flogging people down to have a chat?

they have speed cameras that can clock you at a mile now, im not sure they can legally enforce 20 mph im sure I read it somewhere

When they first brought in the 20mph limits the cameras weren't calibrated to go that low so they could only fine you if it was over 30mph, apparently that was only for a short while and now the cameras are effective down to 20mph.

Sometimes the cameras are positioned for a reason. I'm having a fight with our local council to try to get some speed cameras put in near the 90 degree bend in our road at the bottom of a hill. There is a shop on one side of the road and old people live on the other side and they take quite some time to cross the road. Folk sometimes take the bend at some speed and screeching tyres and horns are common. A fatal accident some day is inevitable.

Council funds are limited and they don't think they can make enough money from a camera at the bottom of the hill to justify the expense.

yeah they harp on about safety but making money is more of a priority

they only put them where its a money earner its not about safety its easy revenue . they sometimes have them up the road from us, theres not been any acidents in years before they started it

Its a tight winding hill. My point was more how close I was too them, they had plenty of room to clock me as I came round the bend but only lifted the camera as I got quite close and they were stood behind a car partially covering there view.
