Perspex Cut To Size

SWMBO is now into orchids and wants to over-winter them.

To achieve this I have been asked to proved lighting and shelves at a couple of windows that for various reasons don't get much natural daylight or there is no space on the windowsill!

The lighting isn't a problem. If I had the money, I could get glass shelves, but one for the bedroom is £80 alone, so I thought I would look at perspex ('cause I'm a cheapskate!)

I'm struggling locally to find a supplier. I think I need at least 6mm maybe thicker, 2000mm long by about 150mm wide. I plan to support the ling edge with aluminium angle.

Any suggestions who to try?

or these are 15cm X 56cm (6x22in?)
if they're supported by angle anyway, you could use 3 or 4 per length?

We have a cracking plastic suppliers here in kidderminster if you have any dog shows up past here. I don't mind collecting it if you ring and sort sizes. (They shut early in the week and Sat and Sunday)
I know they like card payments rather than cash which always struck me as odd. Lol

According to the plastics people I will need 20mm thick clear acrylic for a piece 1.8m long and 150mm wide (even when supported evenly in 4 places and a load of 4kg evenly spread). With delivery it will be just over £70.

My local glass company (Roman Glass) can do a piece of glass (can't remember if it was laminated or toughened) for £80.

I'll probably spend the extra £10 and go for the glass.

they might have more then one place i dont know.
they might even travel your way depending on places they deliver too.

My local glass place quoted me £70 sqm for 6mm toughened glass last week which works out at £21 ex vat for the size you're after.

I wonder if your price is so high as its a long narrow piece and would 2 x 1000mm x150mm still work and be cheaper?

6.4mm laminated glass was £53 sqm
