What is people's experience?

I've some design work that is beyond me and the 3 UK people I know are either not interested or incapable

I've put a post on one of these sites and been flooded with replies, most look like chancers but a few have good feedback and seem to get it

This is not a cost saving exercise and I would much rather keep the money in the UK, but the designs are now holding up progress

what kind of design are you looking for?

we used Fiverr for a logo, tried a few different people / different prices

didn't use any of them, they took feedback / changed things on request (think so many changes included in price for most of them) but then someone I know did a better job so used that

if I was doing it again I'd probably use an AI generated one

I agree AI is surprisingly capable if you tell it EXACTLY what you want.
Claude is the most intelligent and best for coding.
Gemini 2.5 is a close second and far more generous and a few more bells and whistles.
GPT5 is like VHS - every man and his dog uses it but it has more "features"

It's a plantroom layout using some specific kit so we need the cad blocks (I think that's the term?) drawing and the plantroom schematic laying out

I could probably do it for you if you are needing a hand, I am needing more work like a hole in the head tbh but if its HVAC its my bread and butter

I know someone that used fiverr for his business logo and it worked well for him.

Im in similar situation, I want a good business name and logo for my tree climbing and hedge work but sceptical that they might copy something that already exists, the idea of checking it to be unique does not sound fun.

Ask for a sample of their work, they usually have examples on their profile but if you don’t see something similar to what you’re looking for and they seem good otherwise, just ask them. Perhaps agree a trial price for a small proportion of the work before proceeding with the full project. Be careful whatever software they’re using will be BIM compatible as I guess that will be a stipulation on your end, presumably Revit, I’m no expert in that sort of stuff.

Those sort of sites work ok for creative type stuff, but a plant room layout is going to need somebody that is experienced and familiar with any applicable regulations and good engineering practice, and unfortunately I suspect those who are, are not on fiverr.

What sort of stuff are we talking about, I know some very experienced control guys that do panel work and BMS, but they wouldn't do plumbing and HVAC for example.

It's a plant room but it's from feasibility to stage 1 then through the Riba stages, using specific kit

Not normally the point I get involved, I usually do the feasibility or the delivery, this design phase has been asked because I've done everything else on other jobs
