Pegging a rover diff

I've ordered a pair of lsd's for the landrover that I do a bit of racing with so whilst the diff centres were out I decided to "peg" the crownwheels to try and stop the crown wheel distorting and coming out of mesh with the pinion,

On the first one I used some oirlikon superfonte NI rods to stick the m/s to the diff casing and although it was a sound enough weld it looked like rubbish. I didn't get any pics of that but I did get a few pis of the second one that I did with some 319 dissimilars, just need to drill and tap it before I rebuild the diff.

Any further ics, my uncles just done this for his, hes bought ashcroft lockers, did you make your own pegging system, or did you spend £60+ on the aschroft setup, i can source the bolts, but currently lookign for some brass to make the ghuide from (il be doing same in the not so distant future)

Perhaps it's something I could have done myself, but I needed a quick turnaround a couple of days before Christmas so I sent my rear diff off to Nigel at megasquirtv8 to get rebuilt and pegged at the same time. It's a kaiser locker, front is an ARB, unpegged as yet, but also built by Nige

Il dig through my pics in a bit and find some more, I had to buy the pegging kit from ashcrofts as I couldn't source any phosphor bronze in the timescale I had to work in.

I made the plates and welded them in before the pegging kit arrived so I only used the set screws and the PB slipper. The slipper is quite a tight fit in behind the crown wheel and you have to turn a mm or two off the diff centre to allow it to fit in. If you left the diff centre its original size you may need to use m14 or even m12 bolts and a smaller slipper.

The rear diff is built and fitted and the front will be fitted when I'm home from work sometime.

Never heard of diff pegging, seems to be a sensible mod.

Not sure if you are aware but you need to be careful using those dissimiliar metals rods. Any metal welded using them becomes extremely hard and nearly impossible to drill or machine. I found this out to my cost and I had to resort to a carbide burr to 'drill' a 12mm hole.
