I am sharing these pics from the Internal Fire museum Facebook page, with permission. Internal Fire is one of the UK's few museums dedicated to old engines and they have a website and Youtube channel.
These are photos of them removing some 100 tons of machines from a pumping station, courtesy of Severn and Trent water.

Yes it is and I assume they have been donated to the museum, check the Internal Fire website.

They can’t have scrapped the other engine then if it’s funding the project, they must have sold it?

That's what I thought, 20 tons of heavy won't fund much today..

It's the switch panels and meters which really get my juices flowing, I wonder if they got saved as well. Those panels might even be made of slate (it's a good insulator) which I have seen on several old ships and I think, from memory, the old Portishead power station.

Shame the last one went for scrap, probably one of the marine colleges would have taken it off thier hands for cadets to pull apart and put back together in workshop training. In the Warsash maritime academy workshop we had one of those engines just for that, it had also come out of a pumping station. We were taught to do crank shaft deflections and pistion and liner change and bearing inspections with it. Im pretty sure it was one of those exact engines.

Bout £1800 if they’re lucky. Mixed cast like an engine.

Theres actually a huge market for old engines as spare parts across the world. Just becasus its out of date here doesnt mean others places are not still using them

up until he moved a mate of mine used a 1930's Blackstone to power his 3 phase in the workshop
base has been laid to reinstate
4th time it has moved
