PDR anyone had a go?

Anyone ever tried a bit of diy pdr?

Looked up a basic video course seems fairly simple. Looking too take these dents out my discovery.

I think they were caused by someone reversing into their own trailer. The passenger side is pretty caved in even behind the light so much so that the locating pins on the tail light don’t clip into their receptacles so it is just the bolts holding them there. I have had a quote but it’s pretty big money to be spending on a car this age.

That looks like the paint has cracked ( unless its just a bad camera angle)so it won't be paintless.
You ideally need a shrinking hammer and a dolly on the inside face if access is good

Can't you get to it from the inside.
I'm sure the removable towbar storage space is there.

Yes sorry it’s more just the method of removing the dent than it actually being paint less. I’m wondering if it might just be better to go with a good old fashioned stud welder and slide hammer

Watching a couple of this guys videos will give you some good pointers if you‘re going to have a go yourself.

Aesthetics? If you ignore the first dent, the second ones easier to ignore, then some scratches are the least of the problems, and after a couple of years it looks like a dog.
Thats my reason for fixing things, maybe I’m a bit OCD with vehicles, also resale values.

These reasons I’m totally ocd about cars and their appearance, I do hate my car looking like a dogs dinner.

It will have too be painted anyway it’s more just about getting the dents out.

You should be able to get it to the point where you’ll need a light skim with filler before painting.
Watching YouTube of pro’s doing it makes it look easy.
But so does welding, spray painting and plastering, then we try it ourselves and learn that it’s not.

Right had a look in behind the light today, definitely a hammer and dolly job no getting away from it.

I’m thinking of leaving the bumper on to act as a reference edge. The white oval shaped hole is a locating hole for the light and it’s set back by about 1-1.5cm from where it should be.

I think best plan of attack on this one is to slowly work into the corner from the outer edge going to have to take out the wheel arch liner.

No galvanised steel thankfully.

Well took the wheel arch liner out in the vain hope there would be access that way, now wishing I hadn’t. Thought these things were supposed to be fairly rot proof for land rovers. Mind you people off roading then not properly cleaning doesn’t help especially when there are many dirt traps.

The hammers gone through in a few places so I think the welder is going to be coming out at some point soon. Or I have nearly had it with the car so it may just get broken for parts and scrapped.

They are complete rot boxes as usual when the discovery name is attached to a vehicle. I’ve seen plenty with completely rotten sills.

Yes they do Land Rover in its infinite wisdom love putting lovely bits of plastic trim everywhere that trap dirt and allow them to rot.
