payara ( vampire fish )

Hi folks,
I made this over a couple of days and decided to add some blue leds to back light it.The wife loves it,so its her valentines gift.
it now hangs on the living room wall,it makes a great lamp.
Its 6ft long I got carried away abit

great job, I like the idea of backlit wall art not sure if I could live with a vampire fish in the living room though, certainly beats the usual chocolates and flowers for a valentines gift.

LOL, I know its not to everyone's taste. We have a 5ft fish tank with Amazonian fish in it,so it kind of ties in with that.
But I think its because we are a bit strange

Then again we had a three foot angler fish in our front room for years.

Lovely...I think!! The LEDs set if off well...I love LEDs too...got them all over the place...like Christmas every day!!!

The leds I used are just lights that you put on a xmas tree
they are all I could source,they were only £8 from maplins.
Mounting them is where I came unstuck abit, The spine of the fish is 25mm tube,i bent this to give it some shape then cut it in half down the length leaving around 150mm near the head end solid to mount a hanging bracket.
I then welded in some washers on the inside of the cut piece to thread the leds through.
The mistake I made is that I made a full fish head instead of just one side, this meant that I had to drill 70 5mm hole in the side of the head facing the wall so it would be backlit.
Hope you can make sense of this ,if not I can take some pics of the other side.
