Having had 12months away from welding and metal projects in general due to family life, work and my Parweld XTM 255i developing numerous issues, I managed to negotiate with the "boss" a new welder.
After a lot of deliberation and scrolling I went for the Paton Promig 200 15-2. Some may ask why I didn't get the Parweld repaired. It was out of warranty, the shipping cost to return to Parweld for assessment and the initial cost to diagnose the problem and whatever the actual repair costs would have been were getting close to the cost of the Paton.
I've yet to use it as I still need to swap the plug over so I can use my 32amp socket in the workshop. Initial thoughts echo much of @20ft review posted last year.
It is a very solid, well built bit of kit and the compact size of the unit will be handy to move about the workshop.
Being unsure of whether I needed to register for the 5yr warranty, I emailed them this morning. Within 5minutes I received a reply from no less than the CEO of Paton! I was very impressed with the customer service and I hope the machines performance is as good as their customer service.
I will update this thread once I have had a chance to get it set up and lay some welds down.
