Hi I'm completely new to all this and havnt even held a torch before.
I've got a old t25 vw and want to learn to weld so I can sort some body work out in the distant future.
I've gone from looking at Parkside gasless welders down the rabbit hole to this forum and youtube and realised if I'm going to do it I might as well do it right.
I spoke with someone on the forum sponsors website who suggested either parweld 171c in the ready to weld package or the patton 160.
The body work on my van is mostly 0.8 to 1mm. From searching the forum there seems to be a feeling that the patton is quite hard to get dialled in with its infinite adjustment and not very friendly manual.
The parweld seems to get good reviews but can't find too much on it apart from a few post saying buy the Oxford instead! I can get all the extras offered with the parweld and a better mask for cheaper buying the patton and the bits separately it seems.
So I guess my question is which would you go for? I thought about second hand but the number one rule seems to be test it first and because I have never welded anything in my life I obviously can't!
