Patio slabs dusting up

Hi guys,

Recently had the patio and garden paths cleaned (pressure washed) ahead of re pointing and now, they are all dusting up quite badly. No doubt a result of over zealous pressure washing Can anything be done? I'm thinking some sort of sealer that won't turn them into an ice rink when it rains!

They are just regular Bradstone Riven Buff paving slabs.

Any suggestions?

doesnt matter which one you pick they all do

snow makes them worse still

ive the old stone flags and they can be lethal in winter cobled stones and your flat on your backside

ive old style concrete flags and there grity and there good compared to new style concrete flags that have bobbles or a flat surface

I just used an ext conc sealant that was non slip....plus it would stand salt water spray and light forklift traffic........
it was recomended as base paint/sealer for the ind paint floor finish i used....
it def wasn't water baseed.....

A friends mum used an anti slip paint product on her basement stairs (metal), it has been very good for a while now.

You can get them in clear as well but I have never seen it used (as far as I know, no pun intended) might be worth investigating (is quite expensive so worth researching before jumping I guess)

Just a thought, but would some brick acid help? wouldn't work like a sealer but could help the dusting?

Do you think I'd get away with SBR?

That might be a risky way to go because if it does not work, it will stop anything else working.

I would try some sodium silicate concrete dustproofer. Even if it does not work , it will not preclude applying a further treatment.

not outside even though its waterproof

its probably brick acid or whatever chemical they used to clean them and caused the issue if they were not dusty before

No chemicals, just a pressure washer. They certainly weren't like it before. It's almost like the top layer has been removed.

Sorry. Should have been less brief. Put 'concrete hardener and dustproofer' into your googler. Everbuild 403 comes up a lot, but all the ones that you see have sodium silicate as the base chemical. One reason that the price varies among the different offerings would be the concentration of the solution. Sodium silicate is a chemical that you cannot over-apply.
