Patio sealer, or not?

New 120m 2 patio going down, slate grey riven slabs. Question is, is it worth using a sealer to protect or am I just wasting money and creating further applications in the future. Any one used sealer and there experience please?

I sealed both my patios, there were no downsides, keeps it looking fresh for longer, stops various things growing on it and staining the surface,

Only lasts a couple years IME then could do with redoing but not because it looked bad, just seemed to disappear? Probably better longer lasting stuff available now.
