Parweld helmet over a Machine mart one

hello right i really do need a new welding mask no ifs or buts about it really i cant do any decent welding without a decent mask!

i currently got machine mart one( good idea at the time) lasted about 3 years now and i have left it in the back of the boot and it seems to have turned permanently dark, and tbh it was never decent anyway so i will be treating myself to a new one.

i have been reading on this site that for a budget(cant afford a decent speedglas one yet) that parweld helmets are in a league of their own?
have lookd on ebay i ideally am looking at this on

anythings gotta be better than the rubish machinemart one i have now, and i heard for the money these are miles better, is that true ? hope it is will buy it right away in that case!

We have one at work ,and i have a parweld without the grinding function at home ,both work well....Not sure if they will last any longer than the machine mart lid though ,mines over a 18months old

Hi Slammed can't help regarding the quality but it looks like a decent helmet, I noticed the link you posted has a make an offer option. Chance your arm with a lower offer and see what comes of it, nothing to lose. If not have a chat with weldequippe 2 year guarantee and good support if something goes wrong.

G`day slammed
I havent heard of the brands you mentioned, but we seem to get all sorts of different ones down here in Aus. I`ve got a Techmen helmet that i bought, variable shade 9-13 but it doesnt have a grinding function. I`ve had it about 4 years and it hasnt let me down yet, works like a charm, is solar powered so keeps charged by the welding flash, means no batteries to let you down. Hasnt let me down once in four years and that is with 9 hours a day 5 days a week (not solid welding of course) but its proven reliable and it was a cheap helmet to buy, has outlasted some of the $600 lids bought by some of my mates.

i have two parweld 9-14 helmets. use one everyday at work, and its still going strong after 3 years. the other one is only 6 months old and is used for TIG and a little MIG in my own garage. very good value for money, and on EBAY they are cheaper than Machine Mart.

Bought my Parweld from the same link.
Plus got a pair welding gloves and pack of replacement lense covers thrown in.
Works a treat.

Son in law is a maintenance fitter/welder at a huge plant, his work mask is a Speedglas one, he bought a Parweld one for home welding. Not the grinding one which he doesnt rate btw...

He puts it on a par (suitable pun) with the Speedglas one he has.

Im about to get one next month for my birthday, its in the cupboard under the stairs infact

Have a look at an SWP Eliminator aswell..reasonably cheap and a good mask with grinding function.
