Parweld 160 or SIP p178

i am looking at different stick welders now after just beginning to mig weld.wont be for heavey use at all,just for the learning process really,but i also want it to tig weld ms and ss.im looking at the parweld 160 package with tig kit from weldequip,or the SIP p178 from a local supplier.the sip has hf start vs lift tig,and has a better duty cycle.i know sip can be dodgey at my budget but i seem to read good things about their green arc range?which is the better welder when looking at both uses?

Make you mind up where your posting your questions eh, Im not going to follow you around the bloody site

Scratch start is the hardest to master, and will mark the work peice, if you don't pull it away fast enough. Lift is Fine. HF is better but as soon as you have an arc it stops in DC.

Personally I would buy from a local supplier, that way you can go see them in person

yeah,the other thread is totally needless.

the sip has a lot better spec,but know their migs can give trouble.i think ill have a chat with the local shop guy

i put a deposit on the sip 178 today.comes with tig torch aswell,for £277 delivered.

two week waiting list,but thats two weeks to save for the balance
