Hi,
I was wondering, is there anyone here in the UK that would be interested in making some ad-hoc parts for cash. I don't have much money, so I'm not looking for a professional shop to do the work, more like someone in their spare time. My plan was to mock them up from card so I can put them on a project bike i'm working on and check for size, then I was hoping to send some the mock up, measurements and photo's to someone who'd them make them and send them back.
The parts are parts like, rear shock mounts, electrical box and mount, seat mount brackets and a few other bits like that.
I might start to be able to make my own parts once I build up my workshop/garage, but until then I kind of feel like I am in limbo, knowing what I want to make, but not having the tools and equipment to make them!
The first thing I want to make are mounts for the rear shocks. Its basically a 4/5cm extended semi-circle with with an extension on to mount indicators. In the middle of the semi-circle a cylinder with a threaded end needs to come out so I can mount the rubber and the shock, then bolt it on. This will then be bolted on to the frame.
So I would have made two semi-circles with a hole in the centre the inner one with an extension for the indicator, welded a lid down the outside, of then semi circles then used a lathe to create the centre piece with the thread on the end. Then again on other way round for the other side Oh and some cut circles to close the frame off.
I don't have a lathe, vice or welder at the moment, so its going to be a while before I can make that!
I've attached a quick picture of what I mean, but obvioulsy if you are up for it I will give much more detail.
In terms of cash - I was hoping I could get these for £45 for the pair?
