I'm getting on well with the welding on my Renault 5. The paint is generally quite good - I'd not be thinking about respraying if it wasn't for the bits of bodywork on the lower half that I've been hacking away at.
I'm after some tips. I'm using metallic base coat and 2K clear (have the air fed mask) but I don't really want to respray the whole car, just patch in the welded bits and leave the car in a state where it can be run around and maybe resprayed later by someone else. I've attached a photo of the car as it is now.
For spraying in I guess wet sand the existing clear in 800, dust in the new metallic in light coats to try to hide the boundary of the repair, then clear maybe all the way up to the stripes.
Any other thoughts? I've only once partially resprayed metallic once. Twice if you count the one that didn't work so well.
