[Panel Bond] - Recommendations and advice

Hi all,

I am posting thin on here thinking that it is the best place for such a a question.

Can anyone tell me if there is going to be significant difference between these two for bonding sunroof panel to the roof of a car that hasn't got one. I will be doing this as an alternative to welding it in.

1. SikaPower 4720
2. 3M Panel bond 8115

The reason why I am asking is that I cannot get the 3M stuff where I live but I can get the Sika product.

They are both 2K and the Sika can be used with the ordinary applicator gun as opposed to the dual one.

Wouldn’t have any qualms about using sika products. Always been great for me.

Thank you all, doing this first time. Looked at the datasheets, spec is pretty close for all these materials.

I haven't used the sika product but if it's anything like 2k windscreen bond its probably very sticky stuff so it's best with an air or electric gun - you could try heating the tube up in hot water beforehand to make it easier though

Hi all,

I am coming back with some more questions.

Has anyone experienced these materials showing any marks after painting? I have read that on a hot day you might get paint marks or ghost lines and even bubbling and cracking over the seam.

Cheers Jack. Already ordered two tubes of the sika. There is a limited number of things I can get where I live.
