You can. Fresh galv needs t wash. Mordant solution. Old galv, year old outside. Just scrub with a scotch pad to key it. But if it's going to be heated then it might not matter....
Nasty fumes! Both welding & rocket stoveing.
Also you'll not get a clean weld while making the stove so you could strip it all off to start with.
Or see if you can scratch up some nice un-galv mild steel & avoid all the bother.
But I suppose if it's what you have then it's what you have.
