Hi everyone.
I really like Corroless paint on vulnerable steel car parts - its apparently the type of stuff used on oil rigs and I find it really good at preventing rust.
Lately I've been using 2 coats of Corroless S primer followed by 2 coats of Corroless RF16, which is a 'general purpose, glass reinforced, high build alkyd topcoat'. Now this has only been for black chassis parts, suspension components, etc and the satin black finish from the RF16 is absolutely fine for me.
However, I have a couple of small areas to do on the painted bodywork (underside of body panels and in the engine bay that happen to be in body-colour, so no one is going to see it).As it didn't cost anything extra, I ordered a can of RF16 in a close colour to the bodywork - albeit they couldn't do metallic, so its just a solid equivalent.
But... I'd really like to give it a very light coat of rattle-can metallic, just for cosmetic reasons so that the flat paint doesn't;t stick out like a sore thumb. But I have no idea whether its feasible to use simple motorfactod rattle can paint (1k) over the two of this stuff and whether I can simply rough the surface or if a primer or etch is needed.
Would someone more knowledgable be willing to have a quick look at the data sheet (see here: https://www.corrolesseastern.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/Corroless-RF16-Data-Sheet.pdf?6eecfb) to see if I can go over it with either a primer or even a rattle can topcoat?
Thank you very much.
