painting GRP ?

I've got a circa 1963 Gale outboard motor cover to re paint, what primer is best ?

I have a lot of car rattle cans, and filler primer , or grey primer or etch primer.

are you painting over the old paint or bare gel coat

It needs some cracks and dents filling and a major sand down.

The etch primer I use is also recommended for GRP.

dont just fill the cracks, they need grinding back and re glassing, otherwise they will come back.
