Painting a triumph spitfire chassis

Hi

I am currently rebuilding a Mk3 spitfire. I have seperated the chassis from the body to allow me to put the body on a rotisserie.
Having almost completed the welding on the body i now find the project stuck! The problem is i need to paint the chassis. Originally the chassis was painted the same colour as the body work and i would like to keep it that way.

I have derusted the chassis with rust treatments and flap discs and painted the treated bare metal with bondaprime. What should i do next? Epoxy primer? Should i paint the chassis in cellulose paint?
Can i avoid buying a compressor and all the kit? Is it possible to use aerosols, rollers?

your help would be gratefully recieved

epoxy seems the way to go these days and you could use 2k with a roller as there is no mist to breath in

Do you think i will be able to use cellulose paint on the chassis. Will i have to apply a clear coat? Will the final finished chassis be resisitant to oil and grease?

I am sorry these are pretty basic questions but i am having a bit of a crisis of confidence now that have put down the mig welder!

cellulose is no where near as good as 2k, you can use cellulose and you wont need a clear coat unless you use base coat which isn't cellulose

I thought you were not supposed to repair Spitfire/Herald/Vitesse bodies off the chassis as they would distort?

Why don't you use chassis enamel?

you wont get much benefit putting epoxy primer over something else

id have said a good sand up , epoxy prime x2 then some chassis black if you dont want to spend on spraying equipment
