Hi guys, I'm after a bit of advice. Here's my paint project:
- The back half of the car from windscreen back is still in its original paint (all I know is that its got a Glasurit clear coat done about 15 yrs ago and just a few minor scratches and dings).
- The front bumper and bonnet went down to bare metal, prepped, and now have 2k epoxy primer filler inside and outside.
- The front wings are new E-coated.
- I was planning on getting the whole car primered and prepped, ready for a pro to do the base+topcoat.
- I also plan on Gravitex'ing the underside of the fr wings, bonnet and bumpers as per original spec.
My questions are as follows:
1. Given how expensive it is, is 2k epoxy primer filler a bit overkill on top of the (prepped) original paint, and on the E-coated wings? Is there a more appropriate solution, like using a different kind of primer on these bits, or different primer on top of the epoxy, and does everything need to be in the same primer for base colour matching?
2. Should I Tigerseal the seams before or after Gravitex?
3. I can see a few scratches and tiny dings now that I have epoxy on, which I dont expect to sand out. Is it best to use e.g. dolphin 1k stopper and then give it another coat of epoxy filler before final sanding?
Hope you can help!! cheers, Dean
