paint question ?

was spraying today at work only had like a few days training the lead sprayer was off but had loads of back log of work to do on his be half.

so preped everything
cleaned it down
washed the gun out with gun cleaner

but wilste using this sealer paint barcoat i think it sprays in the fan on to the work in little blobs ive tryed adjusting the fan adjusting the paint /air and still getting this

any ideals i would have photos but it was a rush job so banged the top coat on over it

Checked that dude no luck either its just this barcoat stuff top coat goes on fine

I've found that barcoat is horrible stuff to use, always had problems spraying it.Now I just stick to using 2 pack.

if it is barcoat you didn't add any thinner did you ? barcoat sprays straight from the tin, ive never had any problems with it

I don't get what you mean above, now you just stick to 2k ?, you only use bar coat if the paint reacts with what ever is on the car and 2k or not if it reacts you either use it or remove the problem totally

in about 20 years of painting cars full time i recon we used bar coat twice , if youre needing it all the time then somethings wrong with the prep

I always used celly paint often it would react with whatever had previously been painted.I have used barcoat several times and found it would not spray very well(as if too thick and needing thinning), it would splatter,dry rough, then to make matters worse after priming and top coating the celly would either react again or shrink and craze.I've now given up using celly and only use 2 pack.

i see what you was getting at now, celly is terrible for softeneing old paint, i think with bar coat your flow control may not have been open enough, pressure a little low or both due to it been thicker then top coat and most primer , with bar coat you apply one wet coat and leave for an hour

like i said earlier for days experience of spray painting just wanted to work it out sprayer back monday the bar coat is just to go the original paint which was sprayed in china we just use it because it takes ages to sand or preap the bleeding things

oh and even after spraying the top coat over the barcoat i resprayed over the top with the same paint same thinner and it still reacted

reactions often happen when you do too much too soon , anything you fear might frazzle up on you go for light coats , and if you need to re work it then make sure its dried well before hitting it again as the high solvents will attack the fresh paint

Yes mate exactly I sealed it with bar coat then applyed top coat then was asked to to another coat after curing then it reacted same colour same paint

as steve said above high solvents on fresh paint
