At the mens shed we have a large custom made tank for soaking willow prior to weaving it. It is roughly the shape of a large coffin but around 10ft long.
It is made from galvanised sheeting but it has been eaten away, I can only assume by the acid in the willow. It is now quite rusty & I was volunteered to clean it up.
I'll probably use electrolysis to clean the metal but I'm unsure what to use to stop it rusting again. It's not drinking water so my initial thought is epoxy primer but any other suggestions are appreciated. It will need to fairly hard wearing as we wedge lengths of wood across the tank to stop the willow floating on top of the water.
