As title I have a few stone chips my bonnet and I am going to be repainting it. What I am wondering is should I just rub them smooth or should I fill them with a bit of filler before painting
They should really be flatted back without filler, the area will end up many times bigger than the original stone chip, otherwise you will end with a hollow, a rubber sanding block helps keep it flat.
Stopper can be used for any very minor indentations that are still visible.
d/a your bonnet with240 or 320 disc.panel wipe down .plastic padding filler push in to your stone chips.Flat with 320 .Make sure you just see the filler in the hole, and not the surrounding area .Two pack primer your bonnet .put a guide coat on ,and flat with 600 w/d or 800 w/d.The quickest way ,that's if you are confident. Is put a guide coat on and ,d/a with 500 disc.Do your edges by hand..
