I have recently got a oxy torch and when cutting the tip goes red hot very quickly was wondering if the acetylene bottle regulator being set to high was the reason for this cheers?
I would have thought anyone that knows how to use oa cutting torch would also know the difference between a cutting flame or blowback and have turned it off long before the tip was cherry red.
make sure its got the right tip for the gas your using would be high on my list ,,, lots use propane and the switch to acet or visa versa can catch you out , numbers on the nozzle check it , or just start with a new one to suit your gas
make sure you have a blow back / flame check on the set if its second hand , farmers usually dont bother , but if your having bother it could be a life saver ,,, literally .
It’s a 1/16 tip dunno if that make a difference. Originally bought the kit it was for propane but I bought a acetylene regulator, hose etc and now use that. Do torches often have flame checks things built into them or am I going to have to get some. The manual it came with says 1/16 and acetylene pressure so I assumed it would work. Cheers
