Oxford 240-1 new mig. anyone used one?

I'm looking to buy one of those new Oxford migs (I know they arn't made buy pickhill's) and they are made by the same people that make the much respected Portamig. I also know my way round welders and welding so I'm realy just looking to hear some opinions from someone who owns (or uses) one / the models either side, or even maybe some nice chap not to far from me might let me have a go on theirs before I break out the green folding stuff.

My useage will mainly be light stuff/automotive repairs ect. with the need to weld heavy stuff limited to gates/cattle feed rails and steel tipper bodies being ocasional as the faithful pickhill oil cooled can cope with all the big stuff more than happily

I've got an Oxford 240-1. Had it about a year and I like it. Not too keen on the semi-syngenic on it but seems to work ok. A local farmer got it for me as I had a load of heavy duty (50x50x3mm box) gates to make and other stuff such as feed barriers. Was using a stick before this. The duty cycle is not brillant, I was maybe welding 3x14' 5 bar gates and it would cut out. Maybe being fussy used to 3 phase welders running near enough flat out all day. Ran great on his power supply 13amp and I also use it with my Lincoln 305D which powers it no problem. At home its mainly used for light stuff or tacking up before I weld with the stick. Welded 10mm plate with no problems. Mine cost £585 with the farmer paying the VAT

If I had to buy again I would go for the 270 model mainly because of the better duty cycle and dose'nt have the semi-syngenic controls on.
