Hello, I have the chance to buy myself a newer welder although 2nd hand, seems in really good condition. Not sure how many voltage settings this machine should have as standard, the course setting is not on the machine, holes have been blanked off, maybe this model come's like this from the factory ? Doesn't look wrong. It only has the fine adjustment and wire speed ? Is this correct on this model ? Oxford mig maker 180-1. Any info would be grateful. Thanks.

a quick look on google images looks as though it should have the course control fitted, you may find this has been a custom order. do you know if was supplied to perhaps a school or somewhere similar?

I've got the earlier version of that machine and mine only has the one current control.
I've had it for about 5yrs now from new and it's not missed a beat. The only mod I've done to it is fit a longer mains lead to save me having to always use an extension lead.
A good machine, seems nice and a nice smooth arc in use.

Hi, my first idea was to look on google and could only find pictures of machines with the two settings, not sure the history of the welder, I have it on trial at the moment but will find out more. It could be an earlier model with just the one setting ? Would like to confirm this before I go ahead and part with any money! Thanks for the help so far.

You should have a serial number on the back where the bottle sits 1st two numbers is the year built,quote the rest and they may find out some more for you
I to have the older 180-1 great machine esp for thin stuff,that to has only the wire speed control,the other is a spot timer,3 rocker switches for amps

Hi, It seems the welder is correct with the one voltage control as I contacted a couple of people that confirmed this. The guy at http://www.youngswelding.co.uk/ is very helpful and recommended also technical arc in York, very helpful.
