outdoor wood...teak oil?

ive just repaired our garden seats with new hardwood slats and im looking for something reasonbly priced to proctect it

is teak oil fit for the purpose? dont mind re doing it now and then to keep it nice , just reluctant to spend £20 on fancy stuff to protect £20 worth of wood lol

Danish Tung oil, excellent for out door woods, also Libron Garden furniture oil, HTH.

Danish oil will last a couple of yearsw and goes on quick.

Depending on the type of hardwood they may not need much protection. Good stuff like iroko, teak, oak, elm, even softwoods like red cedar etc will last many years without any treatment.The advantage of oil is it helps inhibit greying of the wood. You can actually use vegetable oil - a good dousing and it'll soak in. The difference with that and furniture oils is the proper ones tend to leave a thin dried layer on top.

If you go for the oil option you should re-do it annually.
