Options on TIG sets

Hi peeps,
My first thread, I have found it interesting in here, and, it has taken me back 20+ years from when I started, and almost went down the coded welding route, but, instead, turned the corner into maintenance work.

I am looking into getting a TIG set and replacing our old oil cooled arc set at the same time, as it is the REALLY old type with the secondary return lead connected to the primary earth, thus, it can cause all sorts of issues, and yes, probably should not even be in use!

I have had made some enquiries and have had a couple back, two of which I would like some help in comparing as they are in the same "ball park" budget area.

I have been offered this, new, 5yr warranty, collected from local supplier:

On an Esab trolley with water cooler & two Esab TIG torches, return lead & clamp, gas reg, Esab TIG gloves, helmet, arc electrode holder with cable, and a foot pedal, delivered to our premises.

I'd choose the ESAB, that particular one is a "ESAB" quality machine. What is your budget? I might have a ex demo Lorch T 300 ACDC control pro, would have 3 yr warranty.

How would the Lorch compare with the Esab unit please?
At the moment I am tending toward the Esab machine.

New for new they would be comparable but you mentioned the Esab was pre owned so I don't know how it will be price wise because it depends on condition and age etc. Would you need all of the extras that are with the pre owned Esab?

We don't have a TIG setup at the moment, and our Arc set is very, VERY tatty, including the leads, possibly even dangerous, so needs replacing ASAP.
Possibly the only thing we don't need is the welding mask!
The price for the Esab is comparable with the new machine in my OP.
Mind it does come with the water cooler, etc. which I would definitely need.
I like the look of the Esab unit as it is like new.
I have pics of the Esab unit.

The inverter stuff does not frighten me as I know how to repair them to component level!

That esab would burn any type of rod in mma also.they are a big, solid heavy duty machine, not like the newer 2200i.

that jasic is a lot of money for a chinese machine with no reputation as its only newish

I would go for the ESAB then in that case because I wouldn't be anywhere near £1900 for a water-cooled 300 amp ACDC. It sounds like a steal at that price, esp with the extras so go for it
