So there's a neighbour with a leaky roof. It is well dodgy. That's a floating platform up there and you would be quite right to suggest only an idiot would get involved.
So I did!
It has kind of outgrown it's original purpose which was a little balcony for one old lady. A group of students moved in and had parties up there.
It's only half balanced on the walls below and goodness knows what's under the years of felt re-roofing.
Lots of empty space for sure...
My take on it was, I am only taking stuff off, I am not putting a structure up there! Get a structural engineer, building consent (and planning permission!) but I am going to take it off, burn it, fix the leak and get outta here.
Won't bore you with the details but I was easily able to pull those joints apart by hand. The entire structure was held on by gravity and held together by moss.
Sorry I wimped out and rather than have a bit of fun with "what would you do?" it is done. Here it is. Done.
Yes it's a rubbish roof but I had to talk the landlord out of throwing a tarpaulin over it until the insurance company cough up for a new roof. This is a temporary repair. Maybe we can argue about that??
