I have managed to do a lot of things with drill bits in my time but this is a first. Its a 5mm drill which I thought came from UK drills, I was about to have a go at them before I noticed that the ones I had ordered from them were still in their packets. Hmm Now that would have been embrassing.....

I've done that as well, they are made from special anti snap metal, tap it straight and carry on drilling

My adult daughter, who isn't phased by a bit of DiY had a similar experience putting up an IKEA floating shelf, I'm guessing her 6mm masonry bit had Poundland written through it like Blackpool Rock.

Way back, bought a B&D drill off a Exchange & Mart supplier. Drill was fine and came with some cheapo bits. One of which was left handed.......
This was long before reversing drills.

I bought some from Northern Tool when they were still in the UK - some bent like that, others un-wound (!) and other simply stripped flutes off . . . not many of them actually drilled holes!

I was once helping someone with a broken down machine. I handed over works cordless drill and box of bits.
He snapped one, then bent one right over like that. Looked at me and said where did you get these bits...? We all just burst out laughing.
The bit that bent was Draper I think.

nowdays if its rubbish people say its made in china 50 years ago if u bought a cheap set of screwdrivers the slotted ends wouldn't fit anything and if it did turned in to an s shape and then the plastic handle would splinter in to your palm we used to say there made in hong kong

Yeah, my late dad used to say, "buy cheap, buy twice", I've still got some of his tools and he's been dead over fifty years.
