online seller for grinding /sanding discs

looking for a few sanding /grinding discs for the 4.5" grinder

wondered if anyone can reccomend an online seller thats good value for smaller quantitys

I don't necessarily seek out the cheapest to buy, but I do look for and prefer durability and longevity in use, so I am actually making a saving on a quarter to quarter basis.............. and I do enough sanding and weld prep work that I currently get through 10-12 X 115mm P36 Zirconia discs, and 2-3 X P60 125mm flap discs in an average week.

I find Abtec very convenient and cost effective to use as they also stock the 13 X 457 and the 100 X 622 belts, 125mm hook and loop discs, 1/2 sheets and bulk rolls of abrasives that I also use............. the more I buy from them, the better the price becomes.

I use the P36 zirconia discs for rapid removal of material especially veeing and bevelling for weld prep on 10mm thick material, and for removing mill scale before welding. The P60 zirconia flap discs I use mainly for post welding splatter clean up and rounding over edges and corners.

I've just tried the velcro discs for the first time on one of my 4.5" grinders. They work fine, but only for about 10 seconds! I'm really disappointed. They may be easy to change, but not at that rate, or cost!

I only use the velcro (hook & loop) abrasive discs on my 125mm Ryobi cordless random orbital sander, and then only for sanding timber or breaking the surface of paint.

Garmur have always had what I've needed in stock from odd shaped grinding wheels to belts, discs and mops.


like Gareth I also use zirconium flap discs on a grinder, they are amazing at stock removal and last for ages
Tip: be very cautious when first using on the edge of a piece of plate they can snatch and dig in! you only need the lightest of touches.
