Measured everything up, and calculated, and decided I'd be able to sneak a shelf unit into the space if I dismantled & rearranged certain things. So, I shift & dismantle, and my space is 2" shy. My maths obviously weren't too cracking when I worked that one out. Major workshop change around now on the cards.

Even small shelves have their place in life.

Meh. Cut the shelves down.

We've all done similar.
Moved my lathe leaving plenty of room to access changewheels later realising I needed an inch extra to fit the drawbar

I did consider cutting them down, but it's one of those floor standing metal framed units with chipboard shelves.

Cut the uprights to the required length and reweld/rebolt them? Or, would that not work in your situation?

done exactly the same with my own shed by adding another full size shelving unit then added more changes to it once id seen the space where i could put stuff out of the way,
hence the reason i built the steel shelving above head height to store my off cuts on as that shelf became better used then

now i have to have a big tidy up to sort it all out as richard found out its a small shed thats brimmed fullish again

It was the depth/width which was the problem. Moot point now. Workshop currently resembles bigegg's. Drill bench is gone, and rearranging that area.
