It burns fuel like a nuclear reactor,
The motor makes around 1250 horsepower,
On one run it uses about one gallon of C16 race fuel (£20) and 4lb of nitrous (£28)

A mate bought a drum of C16 when he first ran in ProMod. The first meeting he was entered for he had no money for petrol-I had enough petrol in my bike to get me home and no dosh
at all- so his 2000 P6 got filled up with C16!

Wasn't that the Averstadt/Packman car? Thought it ran 6.5s. I assumed it was Swedish build?

Well spotted it was the old Packman car, my mate Fred bought it from him when he packed up racing,
yeah it was built in Sweden but that was before the current chassis tagging rules where in place so although it worked it failed miserably on tube diameter and wall thickness so most of it had to be replaced, either that or it was only any good for rwyb,
Yeah it ran in the 6s when in promod but its now a comp eliminator car (built for supermod) which they no longer run.

This one is built to "SFI 25.1E" which is an unlimited tag for a full bodied door car,
If you go to the track you'll find that all cars built to meet this spec have a similar tube layout,
theres a specification you have to work to regarding tube layout/placement, diameter and wall thickness for each given tube and yes they do check virtually every tube with a no-go guage and sonic test the wall thickness,
theres minimums to work to but larger is allowed,
saying that though, the rulebook only covers the driver safety cell area which is basically from the firewall to immediately behind the driver, infront and behind these areas is a pretty free reign, often based on similar cars but with changes to suit the body style and different suspensions used.

You build all of the outer tubes, ie the main hoop, screen tubes etc to suit the internal shape of the bodyshell,
certain tubes like for example a main doorbar have to be a minimum of 1-625" diameter x 0.083" wall if in 4130 tube and pass between the drivers shoulder and elbow,
depending on where the driver sits in relation to the main hoop determines placement of other head protection area tubes,
it takes a bit of planning to prevent getting a knock back on chassis tagging so you can spend as much time interpreting the rules for a tubes placement as it does making it.

Got you now, so its just like langy admits above then Looks interesting work non the less, used to do a fair few cages for Comp safari guys when I was into all that thing but even though I knew all was good I always felt just a little nervous in the back of my mind that something might one day go wrong and I suppose very tight scutineering and written standards help with that feeling.
