I have a small leak in my caravan. It's in the thermostatic connector.
More specifically the 90 degree elbow where they join the back of the thermostatic valve.

One I need to know what size washer to ask for and two I need to know if they sell replacements that push into the back of the thermostatic valve and are secured with grub screws.

As you can see from.my photo, the elbows are not exactly the same as there are so many. But I believe the connections to be the same.

If it's the same size as a 1/2" tap connector, ask for 1/2" tap connector fibre washers. Make sure both sealing faces are clean and smooth, else it will leak again. The ones I have here are 14.6mm I.D. and 18.35mm O.D. Does that seem about right?

The dimensions given for the Amazon product are 14.7mm ID and 18.35mm O.D.

Also, make sure both sealing faces are dry before fitting, in order to stop the washer swelling until it's in place.

Not really sure as I don't have measuring gear here and the old ones were pretty crap with outsides peeling away .

The washers above are standard for a 1/2" connector, so would fit OK. The PTFE on the threads is unnecessary as the threads are not a sealing surface. The seal is face of fitting to washer to face of nut.

As to the second part of the question, can you remove the grubscrews, pull the head off and see what is there? I would guess that the connection is one or a pair of O-rings.

That type of connection would be specific to the valve manufacturer (there is no standard as such) but O rings are easily replaced.

Yes the ptfe was the only thing I could get from the builders merchants on Sst morning. It was just to try a temp fix as it was dripping when I put it back together.

Despite having a drain down system fitted I forgot to empty the shower.
So when it froze it popped the chrome manifold off. To do this it gouges a groove into the recess and the end of the coupling with the grub screw.

There are two connectors into the manifold. With a screw one end . An Oring as you guessed correctly plus a recess the grub screw goes into to hold the manifold to the connectors.

Its easy to turn the coupling round so the groove is not near the grub screw.and that all works.

But after I grabbed the PTFE and stripped the leaking joints down I found a rubber washer , as you say on a flat mating surface. I just used PTFE in hope. So we could have a shower.
